Love is in The Air

Spring is just around the corner and the doves know it. They're pairing up, singing their love songs and getting ready to nest. This weekend I built 3 more nesting cones to try and help the pairs that nest around my house. Dove are not the brightest birds nor the best nest builders in the world. These mesh cones help them choose a better site as well as hold their flimsy nests together. Of course dove courtship time means easier meals for the porch cat.

Lazy, Lazy, Lazy

It's been a long time since I've sat down and actually put a new post on here. I haven't had too much going on gardening wise as I didn't put in a fall garden except for radishes this year. Of course with the recent warm weather my yard is as clean as mid-march just quite a bit wetter. I finally put in some cauliflower and broccolli for a spring garden and will be putting my potatoes in next week. The artichokes are doing well but it seems all but one asparagus plant succombed to the winter freezes.
